Rare Breeds A Flyer At J36
Poultry
A very well supported poultry and hatching egg sale today at J36 with the ringside packed.
Poultry trade was flying today with a trio of African Geese selling to £250, close behind was a pair of Rhea chicks selling at £220. £175 was achieved for a pair of Cream Legbar Pullets, and £160 for a pair of Barred Plymouth Pullets.
Ducks topped out today at £130 for a pair of female Saxony Ducks, and just behind was a trio of Fawn & White Runner Ducks selling at £120.
Hatching eggs were good to sell with 12 Rhode Island Red eggs selling to £70, and 6 Rhode Island Red eggs making £60. Silkie eggs went on to make £30 for 6.
Other lots of interest were 6 x Aylesbury Ducklings that sold to £110, a pair of Lavender Silkies which sold to £70. A pair of Silver Laced Wyandottes sold to £90.
Livestock
Cattle begun the sale with a strong trade for Albian Cattle from High Lickbarrow Farm, topping at £1800 for a cow and calf outfit.
Goats were certainly the sell out hit today with a top price of £600 for a Pygmy nanny and kid from FE & CM Robinson.
The sheep section was by far the largest of which there was hundreds to choose from. Topping the trade was a Valais Blacknose gimmer lamb from L Beck making £440.
